What is More Sustainable Shopping?

What are sustainable and environmentally friendly shopping preferences and what should be considered?
As DeFacto, we want to make it easy. That's why our goal is to ensure that our products are made from recycled or sustainably sourced materials. We offer this with our DeFacto LIFE options.

  • We design products that protect the earth's resources. Each DeFacto LIFE product is made from sustainably sourced materials such as organic cotton and recycled polyester. We also develop production methods that save energy and water. In this way, we reduce the negative impact on the climate.
  • The best example of this is our vegan Apple Skin DeFacto LIFE collection made from apple peels and pulp.
  • You can find products in all our categories throughout the year.

Sustainable Raw Materials

Organic Cotton

Ecologically grown cotton is grown without chemical pesticides or fertilizers and does not contain genetically modified organisms (GMOs). This helps to preserve seed biodiversity and soil fertility.

This process benefits climate change mitigation by limiting water consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

Working with the awareness of these benefits of organic cotton, DeFacto uses ecologically grown cotton certified by the Organic Content Standard (OCS) or Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), which controls the entire process from raw material to the final product.

Better Cotton

Produced by farmers recognized by Better Cotton. Better Cotton is a non-profit organization that educates farmers on the principles of honorable work, efficient water use, and protecting the land and natural environment. Better Cotton is sourced through a chain of custody model called mass balance. This means that Better Cotton is not physically traceable to final products, but Better Cotton farmers benefit from demand for Better Cotton in volumes equivalent to the quantities we supply.

As DeFacto, we are proud to support the implementation of sustainable agricultural principles in cotton production with our Better Cotton membership, which supports environmental health and the development of cotton farmers.

As DeFacto, we are committed to sourcing 50% of our cotton as Better Cotton by 2027.

Regenerative Cotton

Regenerative cotton is cotton produced through agricultural practices that aim to improve soil health, restore the ecosystem and increase biodiversity. Unlike conventional agriculture, regenerative agriculture aims to preserve the natural cycles and structure of the soil, resulting in a more sustainable farming practice. Regenerative cotton production minimizes the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, encourages the accumulation of organic matter in the soil and recycles carbon back into the soil. This method goes beyond sustainable agriculture, improving soil health and increasing biodiversity. Accordingly, we use regenerative cotton certified by Regenagri Content Standard (RegenagriCS) in our products.

Recycled cotton

Recycled cotton is a material obtained by collecting and reprocessing textile waste or unused cotton garments. In this process, old fabrics are separated into their fibers and reused to make yarn.

Ham maddeden nihai ürüne kadar tüm sürecin kontrolünü sağlayan Global Recycled Standard (GRS) veya Recycled Content Standard (RCS) tarafından sertifikalandırılmış geri dönüştürülmüş pamuk kullanıyoruz.

Recycled Polyester

Recycled Acrylic

Recycled acrylic is a synthetic fiber obtained by recycling old acrylic clothing, textile waste or industrial acrylic materials. These wastes are collected during the recycling process.

Ham maddeden nihai ürüne kadar tüm sürecin kontrolünü sağlayan Global Recycled Standard (GRS) veya Recycled Content Standard (RCS) tarafından sertifikalandırılmış geri dönüştürülmüş akrilik kullanıyoruz.

Lyocell

Lyocell is a renewable, all-natural material made from plant-based cellulose (e.g. cellulose from trees). TENCEL™ Lyocell is produced in an environmentally friendly closed-loop system using raw materials from FSC-certified forests, with 99.5% recovery of chemical solvents in the process. It consumes much less water than traditional cotton
production and is easily biodegradable in nature.

Modal

This fiber is a renewable, all-natural material made from plant-based cellulose (e.g. cellulose from trees). With its closed-loop production system, TENCEL™ Modal minimizes the use of water and energy, while making it possible to recover the chemicals used.

Viscose

Viscose is a renewable, all-natural material made from plant-based cellulose (e.g. cellulose from trees).

ECOVERO™ Viscose is produced with cellulose from FSC-certified forests developed by Lenzing™ and reduces its environmental impact with lower water and energy consumption than traditional viscose; it is also biodegradable in nature.

Wiser Wash

+Saves water (80%) +Does not contain chemicals +Reduces the effects of climate change.

While it normally takes 16 liters of water to bleach a pair of jeans, with the Wiser Wash technique, which performs the bleaching process with only 1 glass of water (0.2 liters) and ozone, we saved an average of 32 liters of water for each pair of jeans and eliminated the use of harmful chemicals.

Our water-saving jeans, produced without the use of pumice stone, reduce the effects of climate change by 59%.

Olive Skin

Tea Skin

We have added tea leather to our collection, which is produced with a production process that ensures circularity and reduces carbon footprint, to our efforts under the umbrella of sustainability. In the collection, leather produced from Wastea fabric obtained from 100 percent domestic tea plant in cooperation with Çaykur was used.
